A Day in the Life

Havin' a snack... checking my messages. You know, keepin' up with all the ladies.

Earnin' my keep. I have to take out all the plastic lids and the spoons, along with the tongs and the spatulas. Sometimes they fall under the cage--I find this very perplexing. I don't have the leverage to lift the plates, so my mom or dad take care of those, and they put away the forks and knives too.

First Traverse

Cannon is so mobile! He's crawling all over the place, but prefers to be standing up and trying to walk. He perfected the art of pulling himself up last week, and these photos are from his first moments of sideways traversing. Although he's very proficient at this now, at first his efforts looked a lot like his mom rock climbing--using everything possible, including his face, to get where he wanted to go! Hopefully when he's climbing real rocks his form will be a little more graceful like Dad's!

Sick and Tired

Cannon has been sick since Friday. It's easy to tell because he barely wants to stand up, and he doesn't smile very often (as if the hacking cough, runny nose, and fever didn't give it away). :( He did (finally!) learn how to hold his bottle on his own yesterday, so he can get as much Pedialyte, milk, and water as his little tummy can hold. In his weakest moments, he crawls a step or two, then lays his head down to rest. It's pretty pathetic, and sweet at the same time.

Mom says being sick is license to stay in your jammies all day, whine just a little, and take long naps.
The photos where Dad and babe are wearing blue were taken before the dreaded illness hit. Cannon wanted to show you how he can balance on his own (for a bit--and he gets so excited!) and how his Dad makes him laugh and how he can manuever and crawl to get himself where he wants to go.

Drama

If Cannon is awake, he is in motion and he is making noise. He has a signature move we call "the caterpillar", which is his version of crawling. It's effective, but a little slow (thank goodness!). Basically, he moves his knees forward in a normal crawling motion, then drops to his tummy, moves his arms forward, then repeats this very quickly. He looks like he's doing that breakdancing move we all know and love: the worm! And the noise? It's fairly constant, broken only when he's stuffing Cheerios in his mouth (even that is sometimes accompanied by sounds of joyous feeding), surprised by something new, or watching his sign language DVD. He "talks", grunts, yalps, and occasionally shrieks. And he gets very excited. Oh, yes... and if they camera is out, he's reaching for it.

Inverted

Cannon loves to play with Dad. He wrestles with him, gets thrown around, and giggles the whole time. Cannon loves to be upside down while playing with Dad, and he loves to practice his standing when he's with Mom or by himself.

And did we mention it's been snowing?! :)
